External providers

At Bathurst West we like to work closely with families to ensure every child gets the support they need to learn. Sometimes this means bringing in specialist providers from outside our school such as therapists funded by the NDIS and/or other programs . Outside support means getting extra help for your child from people who are not part of our school. This can include:

External providers accessing students during school hours
Bathurst West Public School provides access to external providers, but providers do not have an automatic right of access to a school. Decisions regarding their access are guided by Department of Education policies and procedures. In particular, externally funded providers who wish to offer health, disability, or wellbeing services must have their requests assessed by the principal and Learning and Support Team, who determines whether it is appropriate for the service to be provided at the school.

How the process works for parents and carers

1. Parent or carer request

Parents/carers fill in External Provider Request form and give it to our school. Parts of this form will need to be filled out in consultation with therapist. Please forward completed form to bathurstw-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au

2. School review
Our school reviews the request. If we agree, we will contact the provider for documents.
3. Approval
Once everything is ready, our school will set a time for sessions to begin. Support cannot start until we give approval.
4. Annual review
This process must be repeated at the start of each school year.
