Why attendance is so important to us?
Attendance at school is vital to maintaining learning routines, sustaining long-term friendships and to maximising your child's confidence, health and wellbeing.
Attendance of children at school is recorded each day. As a parent or caregiver you are responsible for ensuring your child attends school every day, including sports days. There are times when your child is unable to attend school including:
- An unavoidable medical or dental appointment (preferably these should be made after school or during holidays)
- Attendance at a recognised religious holiday
- Attendance at an exceptional or urgent family circumstance (such as a funeral)
- Sickness, or an infectious illness.
If you are having difficulty getting your child to attend school regularly, you should talk to our principal, the classroom teacher or the school counsellor.
If your child has to be absent from school for any reason, including arriving late or leaving early, please either tell your child's teacher or the administration assistant at our school, or explain the reason by phone, email, or written note as soon as possible and within seven days.
The NSW Department of Education has further information regarding your child's attendance at school. You can find further information at this link - School attendance - parent information (also in community languages) and the School attendance policy
